FAQ
What is a Splitcard?
Splitcard is a virtual card that allows groups to pool money or split costs seamlessly. It can be used anywhere, anytime, making it perfect for shared expenses like trips, gifts, or group activities.
How does Splitcard work?
– Create a Splitcard and invite participants.
– Each participant contributes their share.
– The card is ready to use once contributions are collected.
– Spend the pooled funds anywhere virtual cards are accepted.
Can I use Splitcard for any type of purchase?
Splitcard can only be used online and works like any other credit/debit card. Splitcard cannot be used to purchase gambling funds, illegal substances or weapons. These types of purchases are against our terms and conditions.
Is there a maximum or minimum contribution amount?
Contribution limits depend on the specific Splitcard settings. The organizer can set each participant’s contribution amount. The organizer can also leave the group open for others to contribute custom amounts.
How do participants contribute?
Participants are sent a secure link from the organizer to contribute their share using their preferred payment method, such as a debit card or credit card.
What happens if the full contribution isn’t used?
Participants are only charged for what is actually spent. Any unused balance remains uncharged.
How is the final cost split?
The final charge is divided based on each participant’s contribution. Everyone receives a detailed notification of their share after the purchase is complete. If you are pooling money, each participant can set their own max amount.
Can the Splitcard be canceled or finalized early?
Yes! The card organizer can finalize the card within 7 days or cancel the Splitcard at any time. Notifications will be sent to all participants. If the card hasn’t been used within the 7 days, it will automatically void and no one will be charged.
Is Splitcard secure?
Absolutely! Splitcard uses industry-standard encryption to ensure all transactions and personal information are safe and secure.
Can I track the card’s status and transactions?
Yes, you can track the card’s status—whether it’s started, activated, completed, or canceled—directly in app. You’ll also receive notifications about all transactions and your final charge.
Do I need an app to use Splitcard?
Participants do NOT need an app to contribute. All contributions are done within a secure, dynamic link sent from the organizer.
Who is responsible for managing the Splitcard?
The card organizer manages the Splitcard, sets contribution limits, and tracks group.
Can I use Splitcard internationally?
Splitcard can currently only be used within the United States.
Why is my charge in pending status?
Payments are not authorized until the card has been activated. All payments remain in pending status until the card has been finalized!
